Refreshing the Master Bedroom

I decided that I needed to do something to lift my spirits from this cold, grey, dreary weather.

I woke up one day and decided to move some lamps around the house.

You know what happens when you move one thing...other things must also move. And this is how change happens. πŸ‘±

You know that I love blue and white chinoiserie, transferware, etc.

Well, I happened upon this RL comforter at my favorite little bargain shop, TJ Maxx. I knew that it would go with my chinoiserie lamps that came home with me last summer.

I had been looking for a blue-ish comforter or duvet cover for a year or so. But nothing clicked for me....until I saw this one.

I have had RL comforters in the past and found their fabric and construction to be nice.

Last spring I began adding blue to the master suite as a complementary color to my Hearts of Palm wall color. I like blues and greens together. I purchased blue towels, then stopped. ha!

It takes me a while to put a room together some times. I was headed in the right direction with the lamps, but I originally had them in the parlor.

Then one day I just thought...let's try the lamps in the master bedroom. I do believe I like them. I had hesitated before because the posters on the bed are very tall, and I thought that the lamps might be too short. For now...I like the look!

For years I have used a bedspread sized cotton matlassΓ© as the base bed covering.

The all cotton bedspread can be washed and dried easily, which is good for allergy people like us. The white bedspread makes it easy to add pillows and comforters of different colors for the seasons.

My wall paint: Sherwin Williams Hearts of Palm

Pantone  website

Greenery is the Pantone 2017 color of the year. I love it, because I love greens.  I am thinking that my wall color (Hearts of Palm) is fairly close..., so I will be right in style.

My walls change shades depending on the time of day. That is something to think about before you buy a few buckets of paint. Always test a color in your room.

I feel so much better with my room refresh!

Now, if the sun ☼ would shine more... I would be a much happier camper. ha!

P.S.
bedspread source... but available other places. Just google King Charles Bedspread.

A Clean Slate for the New Year

All of the pretties have been stashed away. The house is looking pretty bare. And plain.

I guess I am taking a breather from all of the fast paced Christmas prep.

I am trying to get my creative juices flowing...
despite the extreme cold and gloom outside. :-)

I am sharing the simple, undressed look.

The dining room table is still hosting a simple bowl and candlesticks, after the excess of my Christmas tablescapes.

The coffee table/chest in the great room is not fixed at all. :-) I cleaned off a Christmas arrangement and I put  a couple of old Kentucky crocks out to think about. I am still thinking. ha!

Here I sit.☺ Typing out a quick blog post...with the vacuum cleaner parked under the television.

I moved some furniture in the great room today, then moved it all back to its original places. I could not make it work.

I have done one creative project recently!

I decorated a trayscape with this new tiered tray given to me by my sweet  soon to be daughter-in-law.

I will get back in gear soon.
(I typed this post "before" the stomach flu reared its ugly face.)

How about you all...are you slowing down any after the rush of the holidays?

❋❋❋❋❋❋❋❋❋❋

Thank you to everyone for the well wishes this past week! The stomach flu really slowed me down. I am finally back into clothes and I tried some real food today. Iffy about that still.

I have a new appreciation for strawberry jello and Motts applesauce. And who knew that toast and tea could be so yummy? I have to think up something special to say thank you to hubby for taking such good care of me.

Once I had my wits about me I watched two Netflix series. Bloodline. Breathless. Both held my attention and I would recommend both.

Bloodline was more mystery, detective, crime oriented involving a large family and their secrets.

Breathless was a throwback to the sixties in London involving doctors, nurses, and their private lives. I loved the period perfect houses, clothing, and hairdos. Shallow...but I loved it. I hope they make more. I will be watching. πŸ‘€

Thanks for visiting today!

Something New for the Blog

I have been meaning to share a new feature on the blog for a while now. But Christmas got in the way. :-) Here is my little bit of blog news.

fuzzy cell phone pic

My Blog Fairy, Linda from Life and Linda installed a new Sitemap for me several weeks ago. This new and improved sitemap is a very helpful tool for  you, my readers, and for other bloggers reading this post.

Bloggers...you may want to contact Linda at Life and Linda for information on how to get your own.

My sitemap is a complete listing of all of my blog posts by title, date, and topics/labels. I use it all of the time to find my own posts by topic. If I am looking for all of my tablescape posts...I click on the label "tablescape." Easy peasy.

To locate my sitemap click on the link "Topics Sitemap" on the menu bar, located under the blog's header/title.

If you scroll down the page you will see the title of every post I have written for the blog.

The sitemap is divided into three searchable categories:

Post Title. Post Date. Labels.

Just Click on the category you want.

Under the label category you can click on the label you want to see more of and all of the posts that have that label will appear. To get back to all of the posts again...click on post date or post title.

I think you will find this tool helpful if you want to read related posts. For all recipe posts, just click on the label "recipes."

I told Linda that I loved my new sitemap...for you, and for me! :-)

If you have a minute...click on my new topics sitemap tab above or here to explore a little. I think you will like this fancy new gadget. ha!

Update...
I have been out of the loop this week due to a horrible stomach flu. Not a pretty sight! I have been on jello, toast, sprite and ice chips the last couple of days. ha! I hope to be back up playing house and posting asap. On a positive note I have lost a couple of pounds, but those probably won't stay off once I begin eating regularly. :-)

A Pretty New Toy

You all remember...we had Christmas a couple of weeks ago. :-)  Well, I want to share one of my gifts with you.

My sweet soon to be daughter-in-law found the most perfect gift for me.

She said that when she saw this she though it would be perfect for me. She has me figured out! I love love love my new gift toy.

Don't ask me where it came from...because I don't know. ha! This is one of the best tiered trays I have seen. Solid. Perfect style. Perfect color. Perfect size.

The metal is rubbed black...with gold undertones. You all know that is just perfect for my house. The little round beaded legs don't scratch my tabletops. Yay!

The box in which this came showed the wired baskets filled with fruit. I may do that at some point.

But right now...my brain is whirring with ideas for pretty fillers.  Ornaments for Christmas. Pretty eggs for Easter. Mason jars for beverages. Just imagine!

As you can see I filled the trays with greenery balls, pine cones, and lots of faux fruit for my first time playing. You will see this tiered tray quite often. I just need to get crafty!

I told this sweet girl that she picked out a great gift for her soon to be mother-in-law! And I told her that it would show up on the blog too. :-)

Ta da! Here is the whole tray. It is 29 inches tall, so it makes a great presentation. I am thinking of new ways to use it around the house.

Thank you B for this wonderful Christmas gift!

Most Popular Tablescapes, 2016

Since you all love tablescapes...I thought I would do a review of the most popular ones on MKL during 2016.

I love to play with my dishes and create new looks for my tables.

My Autumn Colors Tablescape was the most popular. I love fall, and decorating with oranges and pumpkins. You seem to love fall decorating too.

When I check the stats I am always pleasantly surprised to see what you all like the most.

You all loved my Mad for Plaid table that I did for a holiday tablescape tour.

Sometimes I think a table is mildly wonderful and you all will think it is wildly wonderful.

My Harvest table is next...along with a Harvest Tour.

Sometimes I do a quick little ditty that I don't think will garner many views...and you all overwhelm me with huge page views. I have a hard time predicting! :-)

My Thanksgiving Vignette post was one of your favorites too. You all are like me and love fall colors and pumpkins! I knew there was a reason we were friends...we like the same things.

I did A Neutral Thanksgiving Table...just to see if I could do a neutral table, which was a challenge for me since I usually do strong colors in my designs.

Our 2016 Family Thanksgiving table was one of those very popular tables and I did not think it would be as loved since it was a simple design. Like I said, you all surprise me.

If you missed any of the posts where these tablescapes were featured just click the link above the pic. :-)
