Pillows and Plates Monday

I find that pillows are one of the easiest and quickest ways to freshen up a room.

If you have the time, the inclination, and the sewing skills you can make pillow covers galore to move around your house.

You can purchase expensive fabric and trim and have gorgeous pillows for a fraction of the cost of designer made pillows.

Or, if you are like me, you can bargain shop. 😊

In full disclosure...This pillow purchase was endorsed by hubby on a recent quick "walk through" of my favorite bargain shop, TJ Maxx.

I love to change my pillows frequently, so having less expensive pillows or pillow covers is the way to go for me.

I do have some very nice needlepoint, silk, and designer made pillows, but I seem to have just as much fun with well made / designer made pillows from Home Goods, TJ Maxx, etc.

Maybe it is the thrill of the hunt too? ha!

So...I was on my "walk through" and browsing the pillow aisle. I have been looking for some green pillows for the dark leather sofa in the great room. I was needing COLOR in the dark cave. The oriental rug has a multitude of colors and I can go several directions.

One of the colors in the rug that I love is a persimmon color. Well, I happened upon these light beige linen pillows with persimmon color trim in a wonderful sort of Greek key style design.

Bingo!

I already had the throw and two matching velvet pillows.

It was a match made in heaven. ha ha.

These phone pictures do not show the color very well. I just do not have very good light in the tv/great room. You have heard me moan about that before....so I will just move on. :-)

Hubby "seconded" the purchase of these slightly modern-ish looking pillows for our uber-traditional war* room. *(The room is layered with prints of military skirmishes.)

While it is a bit early to decorate with fall colors...I have put my pillows on the sofa.

They bring a great punch of color to my room. And by the way, I am thinking about a new wall color for this room. I need to lighten up this room a bit more and I am thinking that a lighter value of paint might help.

Next...some beautiful blue and white that I spotted on Instagram.

I am going to hop to something all of you dish lovers will love.

Eye Candy Alert!

Blue and White Alert!

I follow @wgbgbrand #wgbgbrand (Williamsburg Brand) on Instagram and here are a few photos for you. The # phrase Williamsburg Brand seems to like is..." #where trend meets tradition."

And a few more of my Instagram "likes."

Where trend meets tradition.

I think I have found a new mantra for my house as I try to refresh a few things. We moved into our new downsize in Oct of 2013. Hard to believe the time has passed!

I am wanting to repaint a hall bath that serves as both the guest and powder rooms. I have already purchased the new shower curtain and rugs/mats. But that will be another post. :-)

Until the next time...

  1. Sheila, I love the new pillow. I like that color too. That was a great find of the linen pillows. I have a T.J. Maxx store near by. I love looking in there. I always find good stationary. You have made me want to get my good china out. It's blue and white. I loved the Williamsburg set. Mine is called Blue Heron. I do not know a lot about china...but I know I love dishes. :) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  2. I love the pillows-the design and color. I had that color for quite a while but have gone to a different color at this point. Pillows make for a quick switch for mood and seasons.
Love all the blue and white...and sometimes I wish I had the blue & whites back that I gave my daughter. xo Diana
