A Plan Comes Together

A post or two ago I was talking to you about decorating the tables at our son's rehearsal It will be a casually elegant dinner in a restaurant that our son likes.

Since I have a hard time turning loose of artistic control (of anything) I am doing the table decorations myself. :-)

This is my inspiration photo. Lots of glass hurricanes with white candles...and touches of greenery. I do not want anything too tall... that might interfere with conversations.

Thanks to Nana Diana's recommendation of looking at a dollar store for glass hurricanes,  I found two cases (24) at a "deal" of a price. I was able to order them online and pick them up at my local Dollar Tree.

One was broken but the store manager replaced it with one off of the shelf, so all was good.

I ordered the nine inch by three inch size.

And I found unscented six inch tall candles at Hobby Lobby.

Did you notice...Made in USA?

My dining room is pilled up with boxes and bags of wedding decorations to take to the venue.

Hubby is wondering how we will fit ourselves, our luggage, and all of my decorations into the car. (My thinking...where there is a will there is a way!) :-)

I made a small version of my concept on a tray.

Six inch candles in nine inch hurricanes.

I bought a few three inch tall candles to see how they would look in the nine inch tall hurricanes, as I saw some pics using the shorter ones.

I found these skinny bud vases at Mighty Dollar and tried some small votives in them. I think they will be ok to use in between the taller hurricanes.

You can see the size difference here. These are seven inches tall by one and a half inches wide.

This plan is going to work. Yes. It is going to work. Imagine white table cloths with white candles down the middle of a long line of tables as in the inspiration photo above. It will be an evening dinner with lots of twinkling candles.

I am offering the hurricanes to the event planner to scatter around the reception...for additional twinkle. :-)  It should be lovely.

Almost everything is done...except for the bride and groom getting their marriage license a couple of days before the wedding.

Then everyone can relax and take joy in getting this sweet couple "hitched."

Until the next time...
