You know, it is that time of the year when I get into my closet and organize. I have to see what fits, what I like, what needs to go, etc.

I have been all over pinterest and the internet in general looking at pretty table designs trying to decide what I want to do for our son's rehearsal dinner.

Fun Things to Do In Louisville Besides the Derby!
At this point on the calendar everyone is gearing up for the first Saturday in May, Derby Day.
Some may be prepping for a fun Derby party at home and others may be packing their bags to head to Louisville.

I hope you had a nice Easter weekend. Our daughter in Lexington hosted the family this year. She had some delicious recipes that I hope to share. I am especially thinking of her roast pork loin and pecan pie. Both were just delicious. I should have been thinking ahead and taking pics for the blog. ha ha.
Now...on to what I did a few days ago. As you know we purchased a new cocktail table for the great room a few months ago.

Sometimes my kitchen table becomes a forgotten workhorse loaded with projects. A pile of mail. Hubby's laptop and notepad. And various things that do not belong on the kitchen table! Before you know it you have a mess and it is only noon!
Does that happen to you?
Well... I looked at my table and thought something has to be done!
My table needed a little love.
Nothing fancy...but something pleasant and simple instead of a mess.
I decided that a simple farmhouse sort of look is just what I needed for this refresh.
My bowl and tulips remained on the table.
Then I simply added some chunky candlesticks and placemats...and I felt better.
It only took a few minutes to put things away...and pull out candles and mats. But it made a huge difference in my kitchen. It's sort of like making the bed in the morning. That simple act makes the room look so much better.
Here are a few pictures...because I like to snap and play with my camera. I love to play with light and angles.
I love to play with light and angles.
Near focus and far away focus. It's just fun to play. My love of photography is what prompted me to begin my blog, and buy a better camera a few years ago.
I have lots to learn...but I love to practice, practice, practice.
The lesson of this post (for both of us) is when you have a mess on your kitchen table...it only takes a few minutes to wrangle the mess and transform your table into a pretty spot for a cup of tea or coffee. You just have to "do it." ha ha.
Thank you so much for stopping by for a few minutes.
I appreciate your friendship so much!

I have a wide range of reading topics and blogs that I follow. Some of their ideas are so great that I feel compelled to share!

This is traditional style day...but most days are around my house. You all know that I lean that direction. :-)
The thing is, there are different "twists" within traditional style, and I find myself going "there." I have morphed from a Williamsburg style back in the eighties to a mixed, modern, traditional style of today.
Here is a modern twist on the old colonial wing chair. This design is kicked it up a notch with two fabrics. I have to say that I love the coral velvet.
The juxtaposition of traditional with touches modern work for me. I used to be a style purist...but I am older, and trying new things. :-)
Look at the traditional wallpaper with the new shiplap look. But when I think about it, shiplap is actually an old historic look just making its way back into design.
I love the old chest and solid wood table above. They make me swoon!
The photo above is very white...and I am not "there" at this time. How about you? Are you a color person or a neutral person?
We have talked about wallpaper before. Many of us are just not ready to go "there" again. I did wallpaper in our Georgian, and then years later started stripping it off of the walls. Wow...that was WORK!
This is my style!
The silver. The mirror. The console.
But look at me...I am so fickle. I like this console and mirror too! I am a crazy mixed up girl.
Traditional and Timely!
What's not to like here?
And I would love to have a spot just like this...a place with natural light where I could do my makeup.
Have a great day!
Until the next time...
Thank you to Traditional Home magazine for permission to use their photos.

I was dusting and cleaning house on Monday and placing things here and there. And then inspiration hit. ha!
I grabbed a tray, a tea towel, and a pitcher of flowers.
My daughter gave me this sweet tea towel. And I just happened to notice today that the green ruffle, embroidery, and my green chippy tray are similar shades of green.
My old English ironstone...it is always somewhere nearby.
I added the white candlestick and bunnies to go with the white ironstone.
I do not have very many rustic chippy decor pieces...but this green chippy tray is my rustic go to.
Just that quickly I had a new trayscape! Inspiration can strike suddenly and from nowhere. I am always glad when it does.
Sometimes I can have a dry spell, inspiration wise. It happens. I just try to get busy doing other things and then hopefully I will have an idea like I did today.
It's just a simple idea.
And sometimes simple ideas are just the thing!
I hope this post inspires you to put together a pretty trayscape today, with some things you have in your house.
Grab a tray and a few items...And let's see what you can do!
I took these photos in the dining room with afternoon light. I like the play of light and shadows.
I was lucky...sometimes the lighting is just right for the look you want. :-)
Have a wonderful day!

It has been several days since I posted...so I thought I would catch up with you today. I have been here, there, and everywhere in the last few days. I had a puny day on Monday...so I have a bit of "catching up" to do around the house also.
