Something New for Spring

I can't stand it. I am ready for Spring.

I know I will have to endure more winter...but this has been such a cold gloomy stretch.

I have just had enough grey skies!

I want to "think" spring.

Well, I started this past week.

I brought home a new spring flower arrangement.

I know that silk flowers are not loved by some, but they have come a long long way.

I like to look for the almost real silks.
They cost a bit more (Hobby Lobby)...but they can be such fun to add to a room that needs a pop of color.

I am not sure which attracted me more, the flowers or the flower pot? I love both really.

The arrangement is very asymmetrical. I love that. I like my arrangements (real or silk) to have a freshly gathered look.

My new flowers will no doubt hop around the house to new locations from time to time. I like for my purchases to work in more than one place.

This artichoke looking pot will go well with some of my majolica plates.

I can see it now...a tablescape.

I find inspiration where I can.

And this time it just may be from a flower pot.

I hope this gathering of spring like flowers helps you to begin to think of spring. It is me.

It will be here...eventually!

Thank you for visiting me today,

  3. Sheila,
I am in love with that arrangement! It has been a long time since I fell in love with silk flowers, but these look real. I am sure that they will be a beautiful addition to almost any room in your home.

    1. I am very iffy about silks...Unless they are very good quality and could almost pass for real. ha! I prefer fresh flowers, but this arrangement just had to come home with me. ha! I love spring greens and hot pink...so this will be my preppy arrangement for spring. I love to play with tablescapes so this will most likely reappear from time to time. Sheila

  4. What a lovely bouquet! And you are right, artificial flowers have come a long, long way. Do you, by any chance, remember when they were made of plastic. Oh my...

  5. I think well-made, quality silk flowers can be wonderful additions to my home. And you can find so many different types of silk flowers, more than my local grocery store carries. As an added bonus, my cat won't nibble the silk ones!

  7. Beautiful arrangement Sheila. I think there are some beautiful silk arrangements out there. Nothing beats fresh flowers, but the silks do last.

  8. Investing in the high quality silks is a good thing. I have some that I use from time to time and you truly cannot tell the difference, other than they do not wilt and die!....Love that artichoke planter. I have a similar one in my bookcase...waiting for the right piece to replace it with to place a wonderful plant in...or flowers! :) Have a great day!

  9. Gorgeous arrangement, gorgeous container! Hobby Lobby does have some really nice silks. Have to see if my local store has the vase. A top-quality silk arrangement will last quite a long time. It's time to start thinking about Spring and put winter behind us.

  12. I thought they were fresh flowers for sure - what a great arrangement, very realistic! Spring is a long, long way off for us....the mountains of snow left by the plows are ten feet high at least and will take soooooo long to melt!

  15. Sheila,
I'm loving both your floral arrangement and the container, also. Plus, I am counting the days until Spring officially arrives. Fortunately, there are some signs popping out... my early daffodils are in full bloom and pear trees around town are beginning to bloom.

  16. I am right with you Sheila! We're in the midst of a nice stretch of warmer days but we are not getting to excited. There's lots of winter left here in Michigan. Your flowers are beautiful and give me hope. Thank you for sharing with us this week at Celebrate Your Story, have a great weekend.

  17. Nummy, you always want me to machete my way through the craft shop and make something...sadly, I need a bulldozer. This is gorgeous, old world and European looking, and certainly makes one sigh. Thanks, Sandi

  20. Love the arrangement. I too like faux flowers. I almost bought some real ones at the grocery...then thought, no just wait and buy some fake ones to get more time out of them. :) I like the green pot also. Blessings and hurry spring. 26 more days . xoxo, Susie

  22. It has been so nice here that we have been working in flowers beds, clearing away a bit of winter. The heavy winter sweaters will be rotated to storage and the pretty colors of spring put in their place. The arrangement you got at HL will be beautiful for many years. Hubs bought me two dozen roses for Valentine Day and they lasted less than a week. I definitely appreciate the thought but after seeing how nice your arrangement looks, I may hint for something like that next year.
