January 29, 2017
I decided that I needed to do something to lift my spirits from this cold, grey, dreary weather.
I woke up one day and decided to move some lamps around the house.
You know what happens when you move one thing...other things must also move. And this is how change happens. 👱
You know that I love blue and white chinoiserie, transferware, etc.
Well, I happened upon this RL comforter at my favorite little bargain shop, TJ Maxx. I knew that it would go with my chinoiserie lamps that came home with me last summer.
I had been looking for a blue-ish comforter or duvet cover for a year or so. But nothing clicked for me....until I saw this one.
I have had RL comforters in the past and found their fabric and construction to be nice.
Last spring I began adding blue to the master suite as a complementary color to my Hearts of Palm wall color. I like blues and greens together. I purchased blue towels, then stopped. ha!
It takes me a while to put a room together some times. I was headed in the right direction with the lamps, but I originally had them in the parlor.
Then one day I just thought...let's try the lamps in the master bedroom. I do believe I like them. I had hesitated before because the posters on the bed are very tall, and I thought that the lamps might be too short. For now...I like the look!
For years I have used a bedspread sized cotton matlassé as the base bed covering.
The all cotton bedspread can be washed and dried easily, which is good for allergy people like us. The white bedspread makes it easy to add pillows and comforters of different colors for the seasons.
My wall paint: Sherwin Williams Hearts of Palm
Pantone website
Greenery is the Pantone 2017 color of the year. I love it, because I love greens. I am thinking that my wall color (Hearts of Palm) is fairly close..., so I will be right in style.
My walls change shades depending on the time of day. That is something to think about before you buy a few buckets of paint. Always test a color in your room.
I feel so much better with my room refresh!
Now, if the sun ☼ would shine more... I would be a much happier camper. ha!
P.S.
bedspread source... but available other places. Just google King Charles Bedspread.

Love the new comforter! Thank you for showing the wall color too, I learned something new today.
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! Love the blue and green together. You are very creative with shopping your house. xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove your new blue and white. I have the same bed. Mine is king with a very thick mattress. I always have the hardest time finding bedding wide enough. Do you recall where you purchased your spread? Think it's time for a change.
ReplyDeleteLynn, I think my bedspread is from Belk.com but I have seen it other places. Look for Williamsburg or Charleston historic style. I will try to do some research and see. I have had mine for several years...and have washed it several times. I really like it.
DeleteI have always liked your room- that green just wows me. The lamps look great and I love the RL comforter. The sun was about for less than 2 hrs. today. I was so glad to see it however short lived it was!
ReplyDeleteLove the Green and Blues mixed together.
ReplyDeleteAll your pretty pillows are the crowning touch.
I am trying to convince my sister to
paint her kitchen this Pantone Green.

this is my second house to use the the hearts of palm green and I still love it. My pictures don't reflect the true color. The paint bucket green is closer. sheila
DeleteLynn and all who want to know where to find nice matlasse the King Charles pattern is a nice one. Available from various places like Bed Bath and Beyond, etc....But see it here. Look at the inches for full bedspread size. :-)

I just love this room and the comforter and lamps just top it off. I remember how wowed I was with your loveseat. I have chinoiserie elements in my MBR, but with a pale blue ceiling, buff walls with marbled baseboard. I guess I need to get down to TJMAXX and hope I'm as lucky!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shelia for answerng my question about your spread. By the way the one I'm using now is from Belk's Biltmore line. I hope to find an off white spread and a couple of Blue Willow pillows to brighten up my bedroom. Thanks again for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as always! Love the wall color.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
Sheila... I am in love with your comforter - so beautiful. Your MBR looks lovely. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteCertainly pinned your room. Love the green wall color that makes your blue and white chinoiserie and pillows pop!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I have the same bed and have been wanting to update. Do you have a dust ruffle on the bottom and if so what size? My current linen one is just not working for me. :/
ReplyDeleteYour room refresh is lovely. What a terrific find the comforter is. It's perfect for you. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteI love it Sheila!!! It looks great in your room....and the lamps too. Sometimes I find myself propping lamps on books to elevate them, but it looks like your lamps work well!!!
ReplyDeleteI read your blog each day and always enjoy seeing your designs. I also love blue and white and am slowly collecting chinnoiserie pieces for my home. This bedroom is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the green and blue! Love the comforter too!
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom looks beautiful. I love the color of your walls and it looks great with the blue and white. My bedroom is so similar in colors like yours expect my wall color is a pale yellow historical color.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful day and week.
Julie
Oh my...the same fluff the bedroom bug bit me this week...
ReplyDeleteI just had to bag up the red and black and send it to the attic...the refresh is green and yellow, and just feels like a whole new world to me! I love your blues and whites, but I don't have any of the components, so green and yellow it is!! I tossed in specks of red and hot pink too...I'm in love!
Thank you for sharing!
Blessings,
J
PS: I hope you are feeling 100% better!!
Absolutely gorgeous, Sheila. We have very similar furniture and I love that traditional style. Your bed linens are perfection!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you decorated your beautiful bedroom Sheila! Thanks for sharing this at C&C with J&J. Hope you have a wonderful week.

Your comfort or is beautiful, as is the entire room. I do like the color of your walls. You've created a very comfortable, stylish resting place. Ann Marie @ Iris Abbey www.irisabbey.com
ReplyDeleteIt is all so pretty. I love a washable bedspread. The comforter is wonderful. Thanks for sharing at Monday Social.
ReplyDeleteI love the look! There's something about lamps in the bedroom that make them extra cozy. Even though we have overhead lights I don't like to use them unless I'm looking for something. We also have wall scones, but lamps still rule. Thank you for sharing with us this week at Celebrate Your Story, have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how a few simple changes can bring about a whole new look to a room. Great job
