2016, It's a Wrap

made using Canva.com

I cannot believe that it is time to wrap up 2016 and begin a new year! Are you shaking your head in disbelief also?

I have been looking at the stats for my 2016 posts to see what you all like to read. I have to say that it looks like you all LOVE tablescapes and Christmas decorating! (I do too!)

I can guarantee you that there will be more tablescaping in 2017 because I love to play with dishes.

It is time to put away all of the Christmas decorations. Hubby is taking down the window wreathes as I type. I have half of the tree ornaments packed away. I divide them into categories for packing...delicate glass vs plastic and such. I should have the defrocking of the tree done by the end of the day. :-)

I wish I could think of a way to use my red velvet pillows longer, but they look just so holiday-ish that I believe they will have to wait until after Thanksgiving 2017 for their next appearance. That is the problem with buying things for specific holidays...but I was weak and "really" wanted those pillows. ha ha.

Here are your top viewed posts on MKL for 2016!  If you have missed any posts during the year you can go to the topics sitemap or the Blog Archive on the sidebar to catch up.

Thank you all so much for being loyal friends and readers! You keep me motivated to continue reading, learning, and sharing design and southern lifestyle with you. :-)

  1. It is hard to believe the year is over and gone. However, I, for one, am glad to have the year behind us--it was a hard year--onward and upward to better times!

I wonder if you couldn't work those red pillows into your Valentine's Day decorating somehow--paired with some white or something? They ARE pretty!

Have a great week and year!!! xo Diana

  2. Hi Shelia!
Your red pillows might like to stay out for Valentine's day! Maybe put a little heart pillow with them? Just a thought since you love having them out! Happy New year!

  3. Happy New Year Sheila! It's fun to look back and see how many times a post has been observed and commented on isn't it. I've always had the biggest responses with tablescapes. I'm in the middle of tearing down my holiday deco but it may take a couple of days to get it packed and put away. Happy 2017!

  5. Sheila, I like all your posts. I don't decorate for the holidays these days but I sure enjoyed all your Christmas decor. Yeah, red pillows for St V's Day! How are things going with your folks' new place? xoxo

  6. Seriously, Sheila, I love the red pillows and do not think of them as being "holidayish." Perhaps you could simply tie a wide 2" ribbon around the pillow as if it were a package to tone down the redness. I like the other reader's ideas of Valentine's Day right around the corner!

  11. Sheila,
You had a great year, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you share in 2017. I'm with those suggesting those red pillows can show up long before Thanksgiving 2017. Not only is there Valentine's Day, but what about all the patriotic holidays with red, white, and blue? Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, ....
