Post Home Tour, Tour

I want to back track a bit and give you a closer look at some of my Christmas decorations. I guess you could call this a post home tour, tour.

I prepped the parlor / mama cave and dining rooms for my Christmas home tour...but things might have become a blur because I did not have the time or space to give you a closer look at the decorations I used. I zoomed through.

Santa has lots of packages...so the smaller sleigh will be helpful. :-)

In the beginning...I found these gorgeous aluminum mixed metal sleighs...and decided that they would be just the thing to add to my collection.

These sleighs spoke to me this year! I have become very selective about buying anything new...because I have enough as it is.

My original though was to make tiny Christmas presents to fill the sleighs...but time was pushing me to be ready for the home tour, and I saw a box of silver jingle bells, so bingo!...I decided to fill the sleighs with jingle bell filler.

I finished the sleighs with a mix of pretty ribbons.

I still plan to make some tiny presents...maybe for next year. :-)

After I bought the sleighs I started thinking that I wanted to create a sleigh and reindeer vignette.

As a young kid I remember that my dad created a small, lightweight sleigh and reindeer set to fly across the wall of our living room. It's just one of those little things that has stuck in my memory.

My sleighs and reindeer are too heavy to attach to the wall of course...but in my mind I am recreating my dad's scene.

I purchased two reindeer...then I went back and bought two more. If I had enough room I would have all nine. (8 reindeer + 1 Rudolph)

I have looked at various reindeer over the years, but I never saw anything that motivated me to spend the money. Then I saw these reindeer at Hobby Lobby, and they spoke to me. :-) Really.

...Just enough sparkle to let us think they have been flying around in the snow on a cold night.

I like the size, the color, and the poses of these sweet reindeer. The trick for me will be to pack them away carefully so that the antlers do not snap off. :-)

When I bought the extra reindeer my vignette had to move from the coffee table to the dining room table. Fortunately, all of my reindeer were half-off at the time. yay!

I added Santa, since he is a principal player in the homes of may of us on Christmas Eve. Santa is about the right size to fit into the larger sleigh...so, he could hop in and give the sleigh a test drive.

 Ho Ho Ho...Merry Christmas Y'all.

I love those little sleighs. They are darling and I really like the jingle bells in them. Perfect!

  5. This is so pretty Sheila. I do love the bells, sleigh and the reindeer! Sometimes it's a real process putting things together but eventually we get it the way we want. Good thing I don't live near a Hobby Lobby- I like theose reindeer and would find myself buying them!

  18. Re packing away the reindeer. I had the same problem and came up with a solution. I put Styrofoam chunks between the antlers. When I am shopping and see usable Styrofoam, I will ask for it. Some comes in long strips. Maybe those pool noodles would solve the same problem.
