Christmas Eve at Our House

You all have probably been wondering where I have been the last several days.

Well, this was moving week for my parents...and I spent three days facilitating that huge project.

While not blogging, I was busy.

I steam cleaned hardwood floors to get the construction haze off of them. I am not done with that! ha.

I connected a new dryer vent hose, my newest skill.

And...I emptied tubs and boxes. More to do on that too.

Hubby worked on the water heater and changed the dryer plug to a new four prong model.

My daughter cleaned bathrooms and all of the kitchen cabinets.

This has indeed been a big family project!

Even though Christmas has past, I thought I would share my Christmas Eve photos with you.

Hubby and I were "home alone" because our kids came on Christmas night.

I set the dining room table on Christmas Eve so that would be out of the way on Christmas day.

The light is low in most of my photos...as it was becoming late afternoon. I turned on lamps. Then I turned on ceiling lights. Anything to try to get some good photos!

My great room Christmas d├ęcor is more casual than the rest of the house.

I put my red velvet pillows in these chairs and the room instantly looked more festive.

Pretty pillows are game changers in a room. :-)

Here is my Mrs Santa hat, ready for Christmas night. I wore it while I passed out gifts.

I love my sweet little metal angels that I have had for years. They are part of my Christmas memories.

Red was my color this year!

I love long needle pine. This is a faux garland from Hobby Lobby last year.

I love the doors on our media cabinet...though they are usually open with the pretty side being hidden.

I used my pineapple bowl to hold Christmas cards.

Almost twenty-four hours after this photo the room was covered in boxes and wrapping paper.

Daughter snapped this with her cell phone. I though about not sharing...but then I though, Oh why not. Do you like my santa hat?  You know I love a touch of leopard here and there

We had a wonderful time together as a family. Hubby cooked the best pork loin...and I did the sides. Our daughter brought her chocolate chip pies.(aka Derby Pies) Her pies are a holiday tradition at our house!

Our future daughter-in-law gave me the cutest gift...and I will be sharing that with you soon. (Hint...it involves a tray.) :-)

And now...Something that most of us are thinking about after the sweets of the holidays. :-)

I will try not to be gone so long in the future.

I hope you all had a great Christmas with family and friends.

I am trying to get my head around the fact that 2017 is just a few days away. Oh my gosh!

  2. Sheila, your home is just beautiful! I, too, had a terribly busy Christmas season and just put out a few Christmas things. I agree that pillows and a throw can transform a room. I, too, used a Pier 1 leopard print throw with my red pillows in my living room this year and loved it! I'm glad you have your parents closer now; I know how much that means and how easier it gets as everyone ages. Happy New Year to you, and I look forward to all your 2017 posts!
