Last Sunday our son and future daughter-in-law stopped by for Sunday evening supper after visiting the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Ky.
Since I like to try to feed my kids when they stop by I decided to make a couple of dishes that would be able to wait for them to arrive...since I did not know the exact arrival time for them.
I made a
cauldron pot of my homemade beef vegetable soup and a seven layer salad. (Both recipes on the blog recipe box tab above.)
We had a roast and potatoes from the night before and that is a good way to use the leftover bits. The recipe is on my recipes page under the "Entertaining" tab above. See link above or type vegetable soup in the search box.
I created one last black, white, orange tablescape!
This was a paper napkin dinner!
Simple and no fuss.
I did not plan a black and orange Halloween pic...but it worked out well with the soup and my black granite. ha!
Sunday night kitchen suppers are fun, casual, and meant to be easy.
Hubby made skillet corn bread.
It was yummy!
Soup bowls are pottery barn bits.
It is about time for the sparkly pumpkin and Halloween bits to head to the basement. It has had a long run this season, and served me well.
This is the last hurrah for my Halloween colors, tables, and decorations. ha!
We had a lovely time with son, and getting to know our almost daughter-in-law a bit more. She is a sweet girl, and we are looking forward to the wedding in 2017.
Now, just one more thing though!
Our future dil is a physical therapist and her clinic had a pumpkin decorating contest. The patients on Halloween day were the voters.
Well, my son and dil got creative. They looked on Pinterest and various online places and came up with the idea that they could make an elephant out of a pumpkin.
Seems that Dumbo's grey color is actually car primer paint. Now why would I think my son would know that. ha ha. (He is a car nut, like his dad.)
Take a look at their Dumbo!
I am not the only one who thought that Dumbo was a winner...because Dumbo was the contest winner!
Son had to drive Dumbo and his financée to work so that she could hold Dumbo in her lap. They were afraid he might become injured if he should roll in the car. :-)
As you can see...Dumbo made it just fine!
Moving on to Thanksgiving ideas and recipes...
See you soon!
Wishing you a wonderful day!
