Thanksgiving Vignettes Tour, Giving Thanks

Welcome to the
Thoughts of Home...
Stunning Thanksgiving Vignettes Tour

Welcome to my home today!

I am joining a great group of bloggers today to give you some inspiration for decorating your home and tables.

I want to thank the Thoughts of Home girls for including me in this tour. I am honored to be here with so many talented ladies.

I had such fun creating a Thanksgiving vignette/tablescape for the tour.

In fact, I went a little crazy creating a tablescape for a thanksgiving buffet. It just kept growing in size as I went into creative mode. One thing you will notice at my house is that I use color, and lots of it. :-)

When our family gets together we usually serve the food buffet style...then take our plates of food to another location to sit down and eat.

Gobble till you wobble!
At our house, all of us gather around the food laden table to give thanks for all we have, before picking up a plate. Hubby usually says the blessing.

I am calling this my "Giving Thanks, Receiving Grace" table. Thanksgiving is a time when we think about our blessings, and give thanks for them.

Let me show you how I go about creating my "giving thanks" buffet table.

Thanksgiving tablescape

I begin by placing a wide roll of heavy brown craft paper (thick postal package paper) as a table runner on the backside of my table. It protects my tabletop from decorations and the rough bottoms of my serving pieces. (You might want to use two strips to cover your whole table.)

Here is an idea you might like...
I make a stack of platters to use as a pedestal for my sparkly pumpkin. I start out with a cake platter, then stack platters like pancakes. :-)

Of course you can use a real pumpkin...which I should have. I took just used my stash of faux pumpkins as I already had them.

I then add acorns, leaves, and small pine cones to my presentation.

I went a little crazy adding more and more pumpkins to extend the centerpiece the whole length of the dining room table.

Again...real pumpkins would make this more authentic and dare I say spectacular, but I think you get the idea for my vignette here. More is more. :-)

Thanksgiving tablescape

I love to see piles of pumpkins and bales of straw in peoples' yards in the fall, which was the inspiration for my table. I wanted a pile of pumpkins on my buffet table. :-) I wanted to go "big" this year.

The front half of my table is ready to be filled with bowls of yummy food for my family.

Real pumpkins and gourds would be more authentic of course. You get the idea, right.

I have other little fall vignettes around the house too.

Maybe you will see an idea that you would like to use. I hope so! :-)

I merge fall and Thanksgiving décor around the house. I begin adding bits and pieces of autumn color in September and I continue adding more and more until Thanksgiving.

I add just a few Halloween touches...then take them down the day after the little goblins do their trick-or-treating.

Leaves, pumpkins, gourds, acorns, pine cones, and greenery are all over the house. I just love decorating for fall as it leads us to Thanksgiving, a time for personal reflection.

Here is another pile of pumpkins.
It's just fun to fill the basket,
reflecting on our bounty.

The color orange just says fall and Thanksgiving to me. :-) And pumpkins...I put them everywhere.

You will see small pumpkins here and there too.
These are faux, though fresh ones would be nicer of course.

I love using shades of orange with my blue and white china pieces. The contrasting color wheel colors are fun.

I fell in love with small velvet pumpkins this year.

It's the special touches we give to our homes that shows our love of home, family, and friends.

Thank you so much for visiting my home today! I hope you do come back again, and soon!
