Holiday Prep @MKL

Featured on Savvy Southern Style. Thank you Kim.

While it would be nice to wait until after turkey day to begin sharing Christmas projects...I need to go ahead and begin. I hope you don't mind!

I am not in full Christmas decorating mode, but rather in full thinking and planning mode.

Bloggers have to get ahead...just like magazines because we want to share ideas with you!

I know that there are campaigns to stop Christmas before Thanksgiving, and I totally get that. I was the same way...until I began blogging.

And then with being invited to be in home tours, and Christmas tablescape parties, well, I just have to start early. :-)

The months are just zipping by and I need to begin early.

We were in Lexington this week for a doctor checkup for me and I was in two stores that were playing Christmas music. ha!

Hubby said...they want you to begin buying for Christmas. Maybe his psych analysis is right, because I did buy a few things. ha ha ha.

I picked up a few sprigs of berries, and some spools of ribbon. I love to decorate with ribbon and I love it when I can find it at 50% off. Thank You Hobby Lobby.

I reuse my wreaths over each year but I like to change ribbons and such. That is mostly how I update from year to year...ribbons, and lots of them. I will put a ribbon on almost anything that will stand still. :-)  Watch, you'll see!

I am loving red plaid this year!

This year I have a crazy idea of mixing leopard with red...and seeing how it goes. Kind of wild for me...but I am in a wild and crazy mood.

I am thinking red, red plaid, leopard, and silver. Keep an eye on me and see how well I follow through on this plan. I have been known to change directions mid stream. ha ha. You know me well.

I have started pulling a few things out of my Christmas stash.

I do my decorating in bits and pieces.

Here and there.

Now and then.

Call me a free spirit, because I just play with my decorations.

I don't consider decorating the house as a job, but rather as an art project that I can stretch out over a couple or three weeks.

It has begun! :-) There is glitter all over my dining room table, which subs as my project table.

Red velvet pillows and a soft leopard throw.

What do you think?

Lots of plaid and boxwood.

That's pretty traditional.

Leopard at Christmas?...we shall see!

Hubby found a new pillow in Pier One.

He purchased it because it reminded him of his/our sweet Mikey. He loved the Christmas tree and lights. What a sweet soul he was!

I am trying a few red candles this year I believe.
I normally use white or ivory candles.

Here is my mess on the floor.

This is how I decorate.

I put my accessories on the floor and let them inspire me as to how and where I should use them. I put this with that and see what speaks to me.

Red velvet and leopard...that's some wild Christmas decorating.

Come back and check on the progress over the next couple of weeks.

Here is a peek!

I like to have my decorating done far enough ahead that I can enjoy a couple of weeks before Christmas to bake bread, entertain friends, do some Christmas shopping, etc.

Planning ahead and putting my game plan into action is my survival technique. :-)

I hope that by following along with me you might see an idea or two that you like and can use in your home.

I need cheerleaders, and maybe even a pep rally to get me to the finish line of Christmas Decorating.  :-)

By the way, I am still planning Thanksgiving too. ha! I will be hopping back and forth...so hang with me. :-)

Wishing you a wonderful day!
