Featured on Julie's Creative Lifestyle. Thank you Julie.
Welcome to the blog today. I added a touch of whimsy to a normally sedate, dark room. I cranked up the settings on my camera to try to counteract the darkness.
I created a fun trayscape on the wicker trunk. Using a plain rustic tray I added a couple of pumpkin filled rustic lanterns, the "nevermore" birds, and a strip of ribbon.
I added some plastic skeletons for an additional Halloween touch.
Halloween gives us license to play a bit with our décor. When else can we add orange, black brids, and creepy plastic stuff to our lovely décors? :-)
For a bit more seasonal color I added some velvet pumpkins. Little by little I am enlarging my collection...I pick up just one more each time I am in a store that has a matching size and close color.
For the sofa I added a soft throw and some orange velvet pillows, that are actually darker than they look in this picture.
This is the basic Halloween vignette in the great room...which is a more serious place with historic prints, books, and dark wool rug. I have my parlor and hubby has the great room. ha!
I have had no problem decorating any other room in the house except for this one. Something about it is nagging at me.
I have not hit on the fix just yet...but maybe in time. There are door and window openings that interfere with furniture placement...and that may be my biggest issue.
I continue to putter about in this room tweaking accessories here and there waiting to discover the magic formula that makes me finally sit back and go..."Ahhhh. Now that's what I like."
Three fall flowers complete the "falling" of the great room for now. :-) Can you all believe that Christmas decorations are out there all ready.
I just cannot decorate my home for Christmas until nearer the Thanksgiving weekend. I use my kids to help lift and tug tubs of stuff up from the basement when they come home. :-)
I will probably have crafts, decorating ideas, or holiday recipes to share with you prior to the Christmas season...but as for full out decorating...that will be some time away. I am still enjoying the fall of the year.
Wishing you a wonderful day!
