Happenings around MKL

My fall wreath finally made its way to the front door.

Hello friends!

Here's a little update from south central Kentucky.

Today's weather is simply glorious. I have puttered around the house a tiny bit...but then I went outside to enjoy the blue sky and changing season.

Friday and Saturday were cold, but today the temps are just perfect for short sleeves. October in Kentucky!

One of my fall/Halloween tubs!

My tub of Halloween and fall décor items is a busy spot right now as I create vignettes and take photos to share with you, see below.

A new centerpiece on the dining room table.

Here is a look at what is on my dining room table today...a larger chalk painted pumpkin that I have enjoyed this season. (I used Waverly paints.)

Back door vignette.

This little summer vignette needs to be retired to my stash in the basement, and I need to think of something else for the back door. You can see that the leaves are here and there as happens when they fall.

Waiting to decide if I will decorate the front porch this fall...hmmm.

The front porch is not decorated yet...and I don't know if I will do a grand fall display this year. With our railings, and being on a hill, the neighbors no longer see my creative efforts. ha ha. I may save my energy for Christmas decorating...as hubby does most of the outside work. :-)

My refreshed fall wreath.
I added a new bow to my large wreath to dress up the front door. This wreath was custom made for my mother (by one of her friends) but she decided to give it to me as a house warming gift when we moved in. It has lasted nicely, only needing a fresh new bow. The previous one faded from orange to lemon yellow in the afternoon sun that they front door gets.

The new grasses survived the hot summer.

A stroll around the house is a good way to assess the jobs I need to do before it gets too cold outside. Plus, we live in a lovely wooded neighborhood, as you can see from the pics.

Summer chairs in the side yard for sitting while watering plants.

My summer chairs need to be brought back to the patio and hosed down. We enjoyed sitting in these over the summer while watering the new plantings.

View from our back porch!

Here are a few pictures of the changing landscape. The leaves are covering the ground in some places, while other places are still lovely and green.  Such is transition.

When you live in the woods...there is not much you can do about leaves. They are everywhere. Folks mow and mulch...but don't rake!

I love trees. Except for when they are bare! :-)

We are so lucky to live in a beautiful location and have such beautiful views.

Squirrels are scampering about the tree limbs...no doubt planning for winter.

A few summer flowers are hanging on to life. I water them, but I know that as soon as we have a frost they are goners!  ha!

New peppers.

While the rest of my yard is waning, I discovered these new peppers in one of my pots. I hope they will hang on long enough to let me have a few before it gets too cold. A couple of peppers fell off as I was moving the pot.

I have several photo projects in the next couple of weeks. I will also begin sharing some Christmas ideas, though I will not begin decorating until later.

If you are like me...you like to see inspiration pictures and get ideas of what you can do in your house. By looking and planning early you can find and create what you need. I will help you with that! It may seem early...but time is flying.

First idea...
I added a black wood letter in front of a white plate for a monogram look. This little tree is an inexpensive $3.00 faux tree from Dollar General last year. I fluffed it and then added little twinkle lights to it after this photo.

I am so looking forward to holiday decorating... Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

I hope you have a wonderful day!
