Fall Table and Tray Centerpiece

This post is a little early...but I am taking the weekend off.
I'll see you on Sunday or Monday.

'Tis the season for fall decorating.

Those of us who live where it is still hot outside are having to work through the temps and wait for cooler days where we can wear sweaters, and drink hot spiced tea. But the time will come. And then later we will be talking about how cold it is outside. ha ha.

Some people decorate for fall with soft colors and some people decorate with shades of orange and amber...even heading into jewel tones. I want to make a soft fall table setting, but today I have a traditional fall colored centerpiece and table setting to share.

I did not snap pics of each step of my trayscape construction. It is so easy that I can explain...and then you can make your own.

I started with a shallow tray.

Next I added a garland of fall leaves. I twisted it around so that it would pretty much cover all of the inside of the tray.

I tucked in two medium to large orange pumpkins.

Then I began adding filler...tiny pumpkins, pods, etc.

So simple! I am kind of "loosey goosey" with my centerpiece arrangements. ha ha. Everything for this arrangement came from my stash in the basement. I went "basement diving" the other day. :-)

After making the tray arrangement, I added a black and white checked tablecloth. I did not want the table setting to look too much like I used my green napkins again. I tried, white, ivory, and black. I am telling is a neutral for me. :-)

The green napkins go with shades of green from the pumpkin tops and leaves. I am all about repeating colors as much as I can.

The napkins fade in photographs. But they are a rich olive green with yellow undertones.

I have been practicing overhead shots.

You have an overview of all of my centerpiece colors in this shot.

If you look closely at my drapery fabric you can see shades of green. The fabric has lovely fall images...pheasants, twigs, greenery, etc.

Everything in my centerpiece is faux, but you could make a much more impressive centerpiece with real pumpkins, gourds, nuts, etc.

I am thinking about copying my friend Shirley's (Housepitaity Designs) centerpiece that she made. It is similar to mine except that she added some gorgeous ribbon and battery candles. I need to do that! :-)

I took this picture so that you could see my black chairs. (Pottery barn from just a few years ago.) I have decorated with gold, black, green, etc. for several years. I have not tired of the combination around my house.

The room you see in the background is a combination laundry and make shift butler's pantry.  I had so much furniture when we downsized!

I put my kitchen china cabinet in there for glasses, dishes, and serveware. The highboy stores napkins and placemats.

Would I love to have a custom butler's pantry installed? bet!

Do I want to pay for one right now. No. ha ha.
