A Rainy Saturday

What do you do on a rainy Saturday? Work on fall decorating!

I have three fall blogging projects going at the same time. ha!  Can you say busy!

I have been invited to participate in three different fall blog party tours and I am deep in creative mode. So much so, that I don't have an official blog post project for you today. But I have photos that I snapped from this weekend.

I painted this pumpkin with Waverly acrylic chalk paint from Walmart this weekend. (color, cashew) It was an old orange pumpkin from my stash...and my test pumpkin. I like the way it turned out so I will be painting more old orange pumpkins!

On Saturday I was going to go out and about for some nature photography. Well...It rained all day long. It did not sprinkle. It poured all day from morning to night. I know that there are folks who need some of this rain, so I should not complain. I changed my plans and went to the basement and began digging in my stash of fall pumpkins and such. I made a mess.

This is the beginning of a floral arrangement and a buffet tablescape. I love to use my ironstone. This is just a peek today. I will show you the completed tablescape another time.

A collection of floral stems on the floor as I try to decide what I want to use.
I spread accessories all over the place when I am creating tablescapes. I try this then I try that. Basically I just create a mess around the room when I am decorating.

It was hard to get good photos due to the darkness. I tried overhead lighting. I tried metering changes on my camera. Etc. Then I decided that some of the darker, moody pics would be ok.

I made a table runner with brown craft paper. It is an idea I had seen before but had never tried.

It contrasts with the formality of my dining room table...but I love to play with contrasting styles and textures.

The paper did a great job protecting my wood finish from the rough bottoms of the ironstone. I love the paper as a table runner...and will be using it again!

I had to clear some tables of their accessories ...and they landed in the parlor floor.

I added acorns and pine cones to this brass bowl for a touch of fall in the parlor.

The overhead view of my brass bowl. Yes, I started using my old brass pieces again. :-)

You might see this black and white checked table cloth in a future post. Yes you just might.  :-)

I have some fall decorating plans for this basket too!

More acorns! They just say "fall."

I was busy this weekend...but I cannot reveal my projects just yet.

Maybe it is a good thing that it rained Saturday. I accomplished quiet a few of my fall blogging obligations.

I am not one of those who can wait until the last minute! Whether it was a research paper in grad school or a blog commitment now...I just have to plan ahead and get it done and still have time to breathe. Now the rest of my family, not so much! ha ha.

I guess this post was a bit of a tease. I tried not to show too much. :-)

I snapped about three hundred photos during my Saturday photo shoot. Lots of editing!  But I love it.

Hello, I'm Sheila and my house is a giant art project! I enjoy creating an environment where my family can feel safe, secure, and loved. We are empty nesters learning to slow down and enjoy life.

    1. Thanks for visiting...I sent an email reply to you too.

  2. We got a milder version of your Saturday rain. Love your autumn touches!

    1. I live almost north of your area...and we do seem to get much of the same weather. Your hill is such a lovely place to observe the weather.

  3. I did the same this weekend during the rain - and I was quite contented! Looking good, I like the sneak peek!

    1. And you make a great soup. I saw your recipe on your post. looks so yummy! sheila

  4. I only wish we had rain, the drought is continuing and we really need a few days of a soft steady rainfall. So, I am getting out the pumpkins and hoping for a cold front.

  5. Love the cute ideas. Painting old things and making them new is fun and good to do. Let's use our things up. I love to paint year I painted real acorns and put them under an old cheese dome. Some worms came out of the corns and I was thankful they were under glass. LOL. I threw those out and never tried that idea again. I really like the sunflowers on the coffee table. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. Looking forward to all of your great Fall projects...the Fall decor looks really fantastic Sheila...
