Second Time Around Lamps

I had a really cute black and cream lamp sitting on this table beside "my" chair. Then an accident occurred.

I was dusting and scooting my chair and tugged the electric cord a bit too much. Crash-bang, and down it went to the floor breaking off a support leg.

I walked around the house and the basement to see what I might be able to use without buying a new lamp. I felt that I surely had something I could use.

equestrian lamp

I found this lamp in a guest bedroom...which has equestrian prints, etc. The shade of green is one I used back in the eighties or nineties when I had hunter green around the house. With the shades of brown and tan on the lamp I wanted to try it in the great room, aka the leather room. ha!

You can see that it has touches of the old popular brass too. But that does not bother me. I looked down at the wool rug and found a shade of green that is similar to the lamp green. It works!

I took the old tassels off...I am guessing those are out of style by now. I really should know this. ha! You will loose confidence in my decorating if I don't stay up to date about such things. :-) But, on the other hand, maybe tassels have been out long enough that they are about to come back into style. :-)

Here is a way back photo of us on the beach when the kids were small. Still one of my favorite couple pics.

At some point I though that my equestrian lamp had become dated so I took it out of circulation. But hey, I like it again. At least for now.

The next lamp dates back to the same time period as my horsey lamp. Again...hunter green.

I have a table to give to son to use in his town house as a bedside table. And I also know that he needs a bedside lamp. TaDa! I just happen to have a lamp that will match the green headboard of his bed.

That hunter green headboard was at our vacation house on Hilton Head Island...and since we sold that house a few years ago I have furniture that has been going here and there as someone in the family needed it.

Back to the lamp...I located it, but found that the shade needed to be replaced. The old original shade had a lining that was deteriorating. I had an newish shade that just fit...and so another old lamp is being put back into use.

It is an older Ethan Allen lamp from back in the day. It is heavy and well made with lots of life left in it. It will work just fine! I am so glad I did not get rid of it after the initial downsizing.

It is cleaned up and ready for a new home!
I just love to be able to reuse my older accessories. And when I can help one of my children with their homes...so much the better.

How about you? Are you finding things to reuse around your house?

Thanks for visiting!
