Old Friends and Birthdays

"Old friends" does not necessarily mean chronological years "old"...but dear friends that have a special place in your heart.

Well, I found a bag of old friends a couple of weeks ago. My old Boyd's bears.

I know that they are just fur and stuffing...but they are special because they were given to me by my hubby and children over the years for various occasions.

I also think I have a couple more of them somewhere around the house.

What does one do with their old collection of stuffed friends? I'm not sure. But I know that they will stay with me, because of the memories they hold.

Hopefully a girl does not get too old for her fun stuffed bears. ha! If so...I guess I am there.

On another topic of "old"...

I am having a huge birthday this Saturday. Yikes! How can it be? I just graduated from college a few years ago! (wink, wink)

While I don't like the sprouting grey hairs, the more noticeable lines on my face, the sagging neck, the jiggly body, and the fact that I have to wear glasses ...I will smile and gladly accept the additional year on my age. I am in good health, have great kids, and a loving husband. Life is good.

I survived another year in this nutty world. ha! And I look forward to another. I do wish the world was not as nutty though.

I am finally learning to embrace retirement, to wake up late, to enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee, and to play house.

I don't focus on dust or a perfect house like I used to. That's not to say that I don't want a perfect house.  I have relaxed. (I do a crazy fast house cleaning blitz before company comes though. ha!)

I take the time to do what I want now. Writing. Blogging. Making friends. Just whatever...And...I have caught myself taking an afternoon nap from time to time.  :-)

One very special result of getting older and having the time to blog is my getting to develop friendships with so many of you, my dear blog friends. Thank you for visiting and being a friend.

And now, for my fellow July birthday friends...here is some humor to celebrate the month.

Happy Birthday July girls!

I know you are thinking, just how old is she anyway? ha ha ha. Maybe I will tell you one of these days. :-)

Thanks for visiting!
