Make A Summer Centerpiece!

You all know that I love to set simple tables, and center pieces.
I seem to like understated style for some reason.

Sometimes a simple change or addition can brighten up a table, or even a whole room.

A few days ago I added a new summer centerpiece to the kitchen table.

The bright reds and oranges really speak to me during this time of the hot summer.

The green stems are a color that I almost consider a neutral in my home. Green can be found in almost every room in my house.

In the picture below you can see that my drapery fabric has lots of green stems and fronds scattered around.

My Boyd's bears are still hanging out in the high chair.

I use white dishes, which makes it so easy for me to switch out centerpieces and placemats from time to time.

These are silk stems, so I don't have to worry about the beauty fading too soon. ha! I love fresh cut flowers, but sometimes "faux" is what I put together.

If you have a colorful cutting garden you could put together colorful centerpiece in no time. I have seen pics of some of your gardens! :-)

Thanks for visiting.
I hope you are having a great day!

My Kentucky Living

Hello, I'm Sheila and my house is a giant art project! I enjoy creating an environment where my family can feel safe, secure, and loved. We are empty nesters learning to slow down and enjoy life.

  1. The centerpiece is just beautiful Shiela. Those colors really stand out. What kind of flowers aer those? I have similar ones growing at the farm and everytime I go to cut one it disintegarates. We call them poppies.

    1. Thank you. Mine are "faux" poppies. Actually inexpensive silk. But I like the bright colors.

  2. Very pretty! I keep looking for faux flowers that look real and haven't come across any here. Gnats kept getting in my real plants and they're summering outdoors.

    1. Thanks so much Brenda. I have faux of different qualities...and use them here and there. sheila

  3. Sheila, your poppies are lovely. Love the vibrant colors!

  4. Simple changes are the best!.....Love it!!!

    1. You are so sweet Shirley. I seem to lean to the simple version of decorating and styling. It just works for me. ha!

  5. What a lovely centerpiece. I love poppies and faux are a good substitute. Where I live live flowers are not that easy to come by so I substitute quite often. (besides...there's no watering involved).

    1. You are so right Peggy...no watering. ha! I don't have a good shopping area for fresh flowers...and florists are quite pricey. I play with what I have, and pick of pretty stems here and there. Thank you for visiting. sheila

  6. You really did a great job with your faux centerpiece!! I love the colors of the flowers.

  7. What a beautiful and bright centerpiece for summer. I would love to have you link up with us at Family Joy blog Link Up Party this week. Sunday-Wednesday. Check us out http://thinking-outside-the-pot.com/?p=2750

  8. Your flower arrangement is very pretty, love those poppies. The containers looks like it might be a tea pot of sorts or is that
a kind of handle? It looks great with the arrangement. I have purchased some old tea/coffee pots at the thriftstore for just that
use. Now to locate some poppies, thanks for you inspiration.

  9. This is a gorgeous centerpiece. Poppies are my favorite and they look amazing on your table. Thank you for sharing at Dishing it & Digging It link party. We love having you.

  10. You make the most amazing things. I can copy beautifully but dont ask me to think it up on my own! Thank you so much for linking at #overthemoon! I look forward to seeing what you share every week. Please come back for #WonderfulWednesday or #ThursdayFavoriteThings. Don't forget to comment your link #'s so I can be sure to visit and you get a chance to be featured! Pinned and shared.

    1. You are welcome to copy my ideas! Have fun.

  11. OMG Sheila, I just saw where the poppies are faux! So real looking, just the way I love anything faux...LOL I love this centerpiece!

    1. Thank you. Faux can look pretty good these days. ha. I prefer real...but, not opposed to using silks. :-)

  12. This is beautiful and I love the colors! I could bring in a bouquet from my garden of flowers but they don't last all that long and I really enjoy seeing them in the garden. The faux flowers these days look so good you really have to take a 2nd look.

  13. I love all the textural greenery you used. i think that is what makes an arrangement over the top gorgeous and adds realism ---very nicely done, Thanks, Sandi

  14. That pop of color is gorgeous and I love the texture from the placemats. You are so busy and we appreciate you taking the time to share your links with us at Celebrate Your Story. We hope to see you again next week!

  15. This is SO pretty!

I’d love for you to share this with my Facebook Group for recipes, crafts, and tips: https://www.facebook.com/groups/pluckyrecipescraftstips/

  20. This is a beautiful centerpiece and I agree, fresh cut flowers are lovely, but it is so nice to be able to enjoy these faux ones for the whole season! And they look real and very pretty! I'm so happy you shared this at Sweet Inspiration this week! Thank you for that!
