The Pillow Hop

Welcome to the pillow hop!

I have a thing for pillows...and those of you who drop by on a regular basis already know this. :-)

I have a hard time passing by a great pillow. But I have been restraining myself some the last year or so.

I was looking at some of my photo collection for ideas...and then thought you might like to see some of my pillow collection and how I move them around the house.

The white sofa had a few easy to reach pillows shortly after we moved into the house.

I love my wool needlepoint pillows...though they are tucked away for the season now.

You will see the green silk pillows pop up in another location before we are finished with the post.

A few years ago I picked up the matching animal print pillows. The fabric is a sturdy chenille, and the down inserts make them easy to fluff.

I also love my orange cotton velvet pillows. Down inserts are nice for these lumbar pillows too. I tend to put them in the great room in the fall of the year. But they have been in the parlor as well as the master bedroom too. They hop here and there!

And sometimes I make my own pillows. Here are a few that I made using painter's dropcloths.

The gold pillows are great for the parlor and great room. I picked up the neutral fringe pillows at pier one sometime in the last year or two. They have zipper covers, and I want to add down inserts to improve their comfort.

I was on a blue kick back in the early spring...so I tried my blue pillows in the parlor, and the master.

Then I moved the blue to the master bedroom because I was wanting a fresh mix with blue and green. I still have those in the room now...and will keep the blue until the mood moves me to switch them out.  :-)

I took this ready made white chenille pillow to be monogrammed...and it turned out well. I may have a couple of more monogrammed for the parlor or great room sometime.

And my green silk pillows in the master.

I still have the green and brown pillows...in a closet. When the fall rolls around they may hop back out to be used.

Sometimes I get tired of colors and don't use them until I feel the need for those colors again.

Do you do that too? I hate to get rid of things until I am really sure that my love affair is over. :-)

This pottery barn comforter was the inspiration for bringing my orange pillows into the master. I tried it just for fun. You all know that I love deep colors!

And a pop of fuchsia made the room even more fun.

Yes...I do love my leopard pillows. I don't think hubby was too thrilled with them when I brought home six or seven of them. I believe he is used to my little crazy pops of décor... since I am so traditional otherwise.

And back to the gold silk pillows...they were a great investment.

The soutache pillows came from Target with a comforter set about seven years ago.

This is how I put together pillows and accessories. I make a "mood board" on the floor to see how colors and textures work together.

Back to the parlor and gold pillows. The blue and gold tones work well together.

I have only purchased on pillow in the last few months...and it is the gold leopard number from TJ Maxx. It adds a bit of pizazz to the solid color ones.

And this is how the parlor pillows look today.

Pillows are one of the easiest ways to change the mood of a room, sofa, or chair. My pillows hop around the house depending on my mood!

And I freely admit...I am a pillow hoarder! ha!

Thanks for visiting!
