Beach Trip!

Well, not really. But virtually.

I am down for the count!

How did this happen?

I am drinking lemon lift hot instead of iced tea. I'm wrapped in a fuzzy blanket and wearing heavy socks while looking out the window at a beautiful day. Ugg!  I have a sore throat, chills, and sneezes. Ugg, I say!

We had a wonderful Memorial Day with family, food, and those brownies. My daughter brought her grandmother's brownie recipe and her fudge icing was perfect. I kept going back, and back, and back for another piece. What can I say, I'm weak when it comes to those brownies.

Surely eating too many brownies didn't cause this spring cold thing. Ha!

This is my second day on the sofa and I am considering visiting my doc. I hate to take meds so I may try to tough this out one more day. We'll see. Hubby is keeping the tea pot hot and brings me a cup of tea when I ask. Hot tea is the only thing that soothes my sore throat.

Last year this time I actually had the flu. Who gets the flu in May??  Me. I don't get sick when it is cold and nasty out. No. I have to wait until the spring. Ha!

I was at my doc's office last week for blood work. Maybe I picked up a virus there. Go figure! I try my best to stay healthy and then get sick from a wellness visit to the doctor's office. Ha ha ha.

Ok. Enough whining. 😊 I will be checking out movies on tv today and will let you know if I have a recommendation for you.

So, Instead of my normal house and home inspiration pics and ideas I am sharing some of my own beach photography. I took these pics down at the toe of Hilton Head Island...our happy place.

I will perk up and be back with decorating inspiration...after I get more energy. Hopefully seeing some beach scenes will inspire you... summer is here folks!

beach, birds

Ahhhh. I need to be on the beach right this minute soaking up the sunshine for this nasty old cold. Maybe I could get a doctor's script for sun therapy.

I will be back again in a couple of days...!

Thanks for visiting.

My Kentucky Living
My Kentucky Living

Hello, I'm Sheila and my house is a giant art project! I enjoy creating an environment where my family can feel safe, secure, and loved. We are empty nesters learning to slow down and enjoy life.

  1. Great pics! I feel like I am right there. I'm so sorry that you are sick! Hope that you'll be feeling better very soon!

    1. Thank you. My throat is not as sore this evening. So, progress. 😊😊😊

  2. Sorry you aren't feeling well-my aunt just had the same thing and was down for 8 days!!! I don't like to take any medication and we always keep oil of oregano on hand. You need to find the purest kind, but either taking the capsule or straight out of the bottle (which takes a strong will) has always worked for us...Feel better soon!

    1. Thank you. I have never heard of oil of oregano. Need to check on that.

  3. I'm soo sorry to hear you are sick, Sheila. I think summer colds are the worst! At least in winter, it's somewhat fun to snuggle under covers when you don't feel good. Summer doesn't afford us that luxury. Feel better soon. Tea sounds good!

    1. Thank you. It is about time for another cup of tea!

  4. So sorry to hear you are unwell Shelia....bummer. I love reading your blog so much. I feel like we are just friends chatting away. Hope you are better soon. By the way, I never get a bug except when I visit my doctor. I just want to fog the place when I walk in as I know what I will walk out with despite all precautions! Hope this will pass quickly so you can resume your summer living.
    Take care, Phyllis

    1. You coined it perfectly...bummer. Ha ha. I love that you like my conversational tone, as that has been my idea. And to make friends and chat with folks who visit. I am a bit better this evening...though not ready to party. Ha!

  5. Sheila, I've had what you had!! Bummer. Loved the way you picked up and took a virtual trip to the beach. I love all your photographs, they are awesome. Take care of you!

    1. The beach refreshes my spirit...so I thought maybe if I looked at some beach pics I would feel better. Ha!

  6. It has happened to me too! I am so sorry you are sick. Take care. Get plenty of rest. The pics are great. We love Hilton Head! Just up the he road from our son in Savannah. Ready to return!!

    1. Me too...ready to go back. Sooner the better. Ha!

  7. The beach cures all ills. Sorry you are feeling puny...hope it passes quickly. It is entirely possible you picked up something at the doc's. xoxo

    1. Those doc offices are germy places. I need some salt water, sun, and sand! Cures all. 😊

  8. I started coughing last night and during the night had to take cough medicine twice:( I also have a somewhat sore throat too. UGH! Loved the beach pics. We leave on vacation on the 12th to OBX, so I want to feel BETTER!!! Hope you do too!!!

    1. Thanks Pinky. I hope you feel better soon too. Gotta be ready for your beach trip!

  9. Having a summer cold just sucks swamp water!! Get better sweet friend! Hot tea with lemon & honey is so good for your sweet throat!!

    1. Penny you are so right. I'm still on hot lemon tea. Thanks for visiting.

  10. Feel better soon, lots of rest, lots of fluids, teaspoon of honey for sore throat... Help coats the back of the throat and tastes better than medicine! Get some rest!

  11. Hope you are feeling better soon ! Take care of yourself !

  12. Aww I'm sorry you are not feeling well! I hope you are feeling better soon. Thanks for sharing the lovely beach scenes at Cooking and Crafting with J&J! :). Julie

  13. Sheila- I hope you feel better soon. I know how miserable that can be.
Have you have used a neti-pot or rubbed Vicks on your chest.
Both are old school teaching remedies!
    Get well friend.

  14. urgh... germs! I hope you feel better soon

  15. Beautiful photos Sheila! Hope you're feeling better by now!

  16. Spring colds are not fun! Hope you are feeling better. I enjoyed your beautiful beach photos. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
