Moving and Grooving

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a good day. Here is my latest house tweak. I am always mixing and arranging, so take a look and see if it inspires you to change up something around your house. I am thrilled by you all when you tell me that something I do gives you an idea. I love that.

I was walking past the mama cave, aka the parlor, and decided it had been way too long since I had arranged the coffee table and sofa pillows.

So, what to do on a rainy cool day? Pop a cd in for some music, grab a dust cloth, clear off the coffee table, and begin looking around for some accessories to dress the coffee table.

The sofa is dressed with gold pillows from my stash. The leopard pillow is a newish purchase from TJM a couple of months ago. I grabbed it because I love animal prints and because the shade of gold works with my other pillows and paint colors.

With the sofa dressed I began decorating the coffee table.

I grabbed one of my Beatriz Ball platters and used some of my ever faithful decorating helpers, greenery balls, to create a centerpiece.

Here we are with a clean tabletop, and a dark room. We are having a cold rainy day here today.

And here we are with the starting centerpiece.

You can see the other accessories on the floor. They had been on the coffee table since after Christmas. I have been a slacker folks!

I added a bowl of butterscotch drops. I love them and they just happen to work with my color scheme. :-)

I added a few magazines...since this is "my" room and I like to browse and read when I have a few minutes to rest and hang out.

I found my candlesticks that have been stashed away since Christmas. They go with the platter. Both are aluminum and give a silver look...but with easy care.

I like to mix accessories. Silver/gold tones. Traditional/contemporary. Fancy/casual. For me, opposites attract. ha! I like to think this helps my traditional style stay fresh.

By gathering a few accessories from around the house I have a new "look." Do you like to change things up from time to time? Or do you get stuck with one look/arrangement.

I have a couple of table tops that have been stuck on one look. I need to work on those one day too.

I had to break down and turn on some lights.(April showers bring May flowers.) I apologize for all of the yellow tint...but it does counteract the gray outside. I managed a few shots with low light settings on my camera.

This is a very simple tablescape...but it is something different from what had been there since after Christmas.

Ta Da!...a new look with pillows and accessories on the table.

It's fun to change things up now and then.

If you have a table that needs some attention, put on some music, and begin moving and grooving to create a new look!

I like to listen to sixties tunes when I am cleaning or decorating. What kind of music do you listen to when you are working around the house? Do tell us.

Thanks for visiting!

Hello, I'm Sheila and my house is a giant art project! I enjoy creating an environment where my family can feel safe, secure, and loved. We are empty nesters learning to slow down and enjoy life.

  1. Your coffee table looks very pretty, Sheila! It's always nice to freshen up the look every now and then. I need to do that, although whenever I try it in the family room, the boys complain that there is "too much stuff" on it...ugh. I hope your weather improves. It is rainy and cold here too with the same expected for tomorrow!

  2. Your table is beautiful!! I am coveting the candlestands!
I usually listen to J.P. Sousa or some rousing Bluegrass when I am cleaning :^)
Have a great weekend and blessings to you,

    1. Music is a great motivator...or companion. Ha! Helps me when I clean. Sheila

  3. Hi Sheila! Oh, I love your coffee table arrangement! Love those little greenery balls and I use them too. The pedestal bowl and candlesticks are so pretty! Your room is always lovely. I love to listen to music too. I turn on the music channels on TV. Love the 60s and the 70s! :)
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)

    1. We listen to those channels too, and the Christmas one in Dec.

  4. I like the arrangement. I love to mix gold and silver. The pillows look very nice. Would you believe I sometimes use a small dish filled with candy that coordinates with my decor too? I enjoy your style. Thanks for sharing!
    Happy Mother's Day!

  5. The arrangement is just perfect and the bowl of butterscotch candies is the finishing touch! We have an Amazon Echo and have lots of different music loaded. One of my favorites is Classical Music for Reading...very soothing. The Echo is great because I can ask Alexa to play anything and she will skip songs if requested.

  6. I LOVE your mama cave. Such a pretty space. I tend to shake things up a little seasonally but leave it other than that. I'm a very lazy decorator!

  7. Everything looks so great!

I would love for you to share this with my Recipes, Crafts, Tips and Tricks Facebook group:

Thanks for joining Cooking and Crafting with J & J!

  13. Your new decor looks great and I LOVE those gold pillows! Thanks for stopping by Inspiration Thursday! Hope you have a lovely weekend.

  14. Sheila I neve would have known it was gloomy outside. Those pillows are so full of bright sunshine. I love that table with the brackets. And your style is never traditional you always add something fresh to the mix. As for music, I usually have no choice but to listen to whatever the teens have on, since they blare it all day.

  15. I had been stuck with my mantles and foyer table since Christmas and finally decided to change them yesterday. What a relief that was! Your gold leopard pillow reminds me of a cake I made this week and it would have been a great prop. Thanks for sharing your talent with us this week at Celebrate Your Story.

  16. Love how you arranged the accessories on the coffee table! Everything looks so great together. You have a wonderful eye for decorating!
