I Changed My Mind

They say it's a woman's prerogative,  to change her mind. And I did! Take a look at my latest move.

I shared with you here that I got a new rug from Rug Studio using a coupon they gave me. I had it in the entry when it first arrived. But then I started thinking. Thinking usually causes me to put my back and muscles into action. ha!

I rolled up the rug and took it to the great room. I was wanting to lighten up the things in here and thought that this taupe flatweave might do the trick.

The leather sofa and wood floors were making our great room dark. Normally in a room for tv watching that would be a great thing. However, I get tired of dark and gloomy!

I put the rug in front of the sofa to try to give my oddly arranged room more symmetry. I have one wall that lets me arrange things in a symmetrical fashion! Just one wall in this huge room.

I really like the taupe with the wicker chest and brown leather! The pillows on the sofa are also a taupe/beige/greige.

I took the new rug as an opportunity to create a vignette on the wicker. I went around the house grabbing an arm full of accessories to play with.

I think this rug will be a nice change, especially during the warmer months, from the dark wool oriental that covered 3/4 of the floor.

Some of hubby's history prints have some taupe and brown also. I like to see colors repeated in a room.

Yes, I changed my mind. I may do it again very soon too.  And who knows where I will move this rug next? ha.  :-)

Thanks for visiting!

My Kentucky Living
My Kentucky Living

Hello, I'm Sheila and my house is a giant art project! I enjoy creating an environment where my family can feel safe, secure, and loved. We are empty nesters learning to slow down and enjoy life.

  1. The rug looks fabulous there. It goes nicely with your furnishings. A woman has a right to change her mind. Enjoy!

    1. Thank you Linda! I am experimenting with the rug all around the house. And...I change my mind all of the time. Ha ha. Sheila

  2. Very pretty décor. I love the coffee table's tray and doggies.
Love the rug with the sofas.

    1. Thank you! Those little doggies go all over the house. Ha! Thanks for visiting.

  3. I like the rug in the TV room. Half the fun is moving things around, trying them in new places, or giving a new look to familiar objects. And I also have a Civil War buff for a husband with Dale Gallon prints on the wall! Thanks for sharing.

    1. I have been challenging myself to use what I already have instead of making new purchases. Like you just said...its fun! I started researching and found some civil war folks in my ancestry and now I am interested in the history too. Thanks for visiting today.

  4. Isn't it fun to move thibgs all over to see JUST where they should live? Then we have the perogitive to move them again:):) I love the rug and it is very pretty here!!!

    1. Thank you so much Pinky. Most of us seem to fell we have the right to move and change the house around. ha.

  5. Looks great! And I love your pillows!

    1. Thank you! Pillows from TJ Maxx last year.

  6. That looks good and I like how it lightened up the overall feeling of the room. Heck yeah we have a right to change our minds! I love to do things like this and play with new arrangements. My mind has been on the outside lately but I need to focus on the inside a bit now too.

    1. Thanks Liz. You have beautiful garden your effort pays off. sheila

  7. I move my furniture constantly. I think it keep me sane!

    1. The family story is that my paternal grandmother did lots of furniture moving while she cleaned. My grandfather sat where there was no longer a chair...and well, oops. I never understood why he did not look to make sure the chair was still there since he knew she moved things about. ha.

  8. What a great look, love it! Oh, if I could not change my mind, I'd be in real trouble!!

    1. Thanks so much Nancy. I guess changing our minds comes with the dna or hormones. I am currently stuck with our great room. I moved the furniture then moved it back. ha ha ha

  9. It looks great, Sheila! So nice and summery! Enjoy your week!

  10. That was a brilliant idea to move the rug to the great room! Really brightens the room and harmonizes nicely with accessories in there. xoxo

  11. Love your rug and how great it looks in your room. Those little dogs are adorable.

  12. Well, isn't it a woman's prerogative to change her mind? I rearrange things all the time! Good for you for not settling. It looks very nice under the wicker chest. Thanks so much for stopping by and linking up at the Celebrate Your Story! link party! We are always happy to see what you have to share!

  13. Everything looks great to me! :)

Thanks for joining Cooking and Crafting with J & J!

  14. Some of the best results come from a simple change of mind and that's the case here!

  15. So pretty! I would love to get a new rug or two in our house. It's fun to keep things fresh. :)
