Alternative Easter Basket Ideas

Do you put all of your eggs in one basket?
If you do, consider putting them in different containers!

I have been playing around with spring and Easter decorations and thought that I would try my eggs in "non basket" containers this year.

I have a stash of pastel eggs from last year so I went around the house trying them here and there. I have a favorite...and let's see if you do.

Here I am at the kitchen/work table creating arrangements. I took the pine cones out of my pedestal bowl and made a spring arrangement.

Instead of the traditional  Easter basket grass I chose to use bagged moss from the Walmart floral aisle.

Here it is looking cute in the dining room.

I wanted to try my pastel eggs on a small ironstone platter. I like the simplicity of just the eggs and the cream ironstone. I feel a farmhouse/country vibe to this arrangement.

Then I put a few eggs in this small grass/moss.

And another idea...
I used my extra large ironstone platter and added a few eggs. I could remove the greenery and fill the platter with eggs too.

Do you remember how I used my tureen at Christmas? Here is an Easter/spring version. I filled the tureen with wrapping paper, then added some party bag filler...and pastel eggs. Then I layered with a large white platter.

I urge you to try putting your eggs in alternative "baskets" and see what you come up with.Try bowls, trays, planters, flower pots, etc.

One year my mother-in-law gave me a beautiful oriental planter, about 8 inches square, filled with that green Easter basket grass, and yummy chocolate eggs. That was 43 years ago...and I still remember how thoughtful it was of her.

These tiny chicks hopped into my car the other day.
They said they would not be any trouble at all.

Thanks for visiting!

Hello, I'm Sheila and my house is a giant art project! I enjoy creating an environment where my family can feel safe, secure, and loved. We are empty nesters learning to slow down and enjoy life.

  1. Those chicks are adorable. Love the pedestal. Great combination!

    1. Thank you Jen! The little chicks are my new companions. Ha!

  2. Those little chicks are so sweet, I understand how they had to come home with you! Like you, I like to use different things for Easter eggs, like a little wooden wheelbarrow. My favorite is your pretty white tureen filled with the pastel eggs. I think we have a collection of the same eggs! Thanks so much for sharing over at Celebrate Your Story!

    1. Have you been shopping HL? Mine came from there. Your wheelbarrow idea sounds cute.

  3. Very them all

  4. Sheila, this is all so pretty! I love all those colored eggs especially on the platter. I'm just pinning away.

Thank you for joining Thoughts of Home on Thursday with all three of your beautiful posts. :)

  5. Cutest little chicks ever! I enjoyed seeing eggs in your different containers. Thanks for the "egg-spiration"!

  6. This is such a great way to display them, I love the little chicks too. Thanks for sharing with us on Thursday Favorite Things!

  7. I ♥ them all, but the one in the ironstone platter really speaks to me.
    Have a great weekend.

    1. I am partial to the ironstone platter too.

  8. Hi Sheila! Oh, I love every one of your 'baskets' for the eggs. Especially like the eggs in your white tureen! You've really got your Eastering going on! Have a great weekend.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

    1. Hey Shelia...yes, been doing some Easter decorating! Then I have to get busy with some Ky Derby ideas. Sheika

  9. What would we do without our stash of Easter eggs from year to year!

I love the arrangement in the tureen.

Thank you for sharing this at Thoughts of Home on Thursday.
I am so glad you are here.

    1. You are so welcome Laura! I have too many stashes...but keeps me from buying more stuff. Ha!
