What a Difference a Day Makes!

I'll tell you, we have had a wild snow storm.

If you do not live in the path of this snow, you have probably heard about it on television.

It seems this snow storm has been like a disaster movie. I have heard about some very difficult situations.

Interstate 75 in Ky has been shut down (may be open now) but there were many cars stranded on the road. I cannot imagine trying to stay warm in my car overnight.

Here are some of my snow pictures...
These pics are almost 24 hours apart.

The grey blizzard pics are from 22 Jan. late afternoon and the sunny pics are from 23 Jan late afternoon.

This has certainly been a wild twenty-four hours! The snow began sometime after I went to bed Thursday night...and I woke up to a thick blanket of white Friday morning. But to top that, it actually snowed quite heavily through my going to sleep on Friday night. It snowed all day Friday. And not a wimpy snow, but huge snow flakes.

My prayers were answered...the power did not go out! Of course we are not out of the woods yet.

I was getting some things rounded up just in case of a power outage.

Our neighborhood has underground lines...but out at the road, and between us and the power source there are lots of trees.

Someone plowed our country enclave...and I am thankful. The only thing is...our drive is covered with over a foot of snow.

Last year when we had a deep snow we tried to find someone to plow our drive...but no luck. They were all doing commercial jobs. We had to wait for the snow to melt.

You can see blacktop in the middle of this picture. Yay!

The road was nowhere to be found in this pic from Friday the 22nd.

I put together this indoor campfire arrangement.
I wanted to be prepared if the power went down.

I used a large glass jar* from Walmart, about $10.00. (*jar has a lid also.) I poured some sand into the bottom, and then added three candles. I had the small candle left over from Christmas...and added it to the tray. For safety, I like my candles in a hurricane, or a jar.

I am an old former brownie/girl scout. Be prepared is my motto!  *jar has a lid also.

Oh my gosh, we just had a power flicker. Just as I was typing this. Pleeeeease. Nooooo. Ok, it's back on. Whew.

For everyone who is / has been in the path of this storm...just be safe. And stay off of the road.

I will be back to some home and décor items this week I hope...Unless we have another monster storm.

 Thanks for visiting!
