Mid Century Ranch

This post was featured on The Dedicated House.
Thank you Kathryn.

A mid-century ranch might not be something I usually blog about...but "mid century modern" is a style that my daughter likes, so I look around online from time to time.

Here are a few houses that I found.

Click link to see the interior of this "time capsule" ranch house.  Like stepping back in time! Take a look at the kitchen and bathroom...I remember these styles in my grandparents' ranch houses. American tradition in the making for many of us.

I am going to guess that many of you either lived in a ranch or had a relative that lived in a fifties/sixties ranch.

Mid-century ranch is actually a fairly traditional "American" home for many families. I believe the boom time for the mid-century ranch was post WWII...with many of us "boomers" calling this style our childhood home.

Both of my sets of (Kentucky) grandparents spent their later years living in mid century ranch houses (after living in Ky farmhouses.) Not large ranch houses, but fifties and sixties ranches.

When hubby and I bought our first house in Frankfort, Ky we chose a cute ranch house.

It was a seventies ranch built of old brick from Lexington tear downs. I loved it.

Had we had more decorating cash I could have made that house so cute.

Our second move was into a ranch house also. After that...we lived in two story houses until our recent downsize. (The Hilton Head house was a one story too.)

We are back to one story living and I absolutely love it.

So, take a look at this mid century ranch from Houzz and see if you find it appealing in some way.

This is a really "cool" house, and this traditional girl thinks she might be able to live in this one. ha!

I managed to "embed" the slideshow.  All you have to do is click on the arrow at the bottom right of each slide to advance to the next one. I hope you enjoy seeing the pictures.

This is very upscale...but it is fun to see how the new homeowners brought the older house into this century.

Thanks for visiting.
