Christmas in the Parlor, 2015

Welcome to the Christmas tour of the parlor.

Coffee table arrangement 2014
The parlor is a petite living room near the entry that I often call the "mama cave" because this is where I often come for quiet time, or to listen to my music.

The parlor is dressed more formally than the great room. All of the furniture pieces came from our Georgian house on the farm. There is nothing new, except for the way I have used the accessories.

Here is the view from the entry foyer. I have lots of furniture in this small room, but I think that contributes to the coziness. It works for my needs. :-)

The butler's tray table plays host to several items this Christmas season. I have the pups keeping an eye on everything that comes and goes. ha! Since I was working with a red, black, white color scheme this Christmas I decided to add the black lantern and my equestrian hunt couple. The pot of boxwood adds a nice touch of green.

And I added my equestrian/hunt couple to the coffee table vignette this year. Usually they are displayed with the collection.

I decided to be a little wild this year and leave the leopard pillows on the sofa. I added a simple Christmas pillow for the season. Note the red, black, and white.

The tilt top table has a collection of older items. The little tree is a Dollar General find. I love to find cute inexpensive items for Christmas decorating.

I added some red ribbon and faux holly to the chest to make it festive.

I love adding a natural mix to bowls and hurricanes during the Christmas season.

I added a red throw to one of the white chairs for instant color. I spruced up some baskets with red ribbon and glass balls too.

Not being someone who can leave well enough alone, I switched out my basket for some lanterns on which I tied more red ribbons.

Then I replaced the red throw (that was needed in the family room for naps) with one of my blanket shawls. I just draped it over the arm of the chair. It is still in keeping with my red, black, white theme.

For the matching white chair I had a length of red plaid fabric that I draped over the back. The white pillows with the black ribbon came from Target years ago.

Here is a wider view of the parlor. The cd player is not decorative, but it is an integral part of the mama cave. This is where I play my tunes or watch "my" tv shows.

And here is another basket that I dolled up for Christmas. I stuffed it with greenery, added a red bow, and then put some battery operated twinkle lights on top of the greenery. The battery pack is down inside of the basket.

I have enjoyed my "flu shot" lantern this season. In fact, I went back and picked up a second one for my parlor.

The mini Christmas tree is a Dollar General bargain...$3.50 sitting on my tilt top table. :-)

We wish you a Merry Christmas!
