Christmas Decorating With Pine Cones, Berries, and Greenery

It is such fun to begin bringing in bits and pieces to decorate our home for Christmas. Grab a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate and settle in for a few minutes. I have some relaxing music as well as photos for you.

(Click to listen to  a soft piano version of "Deck the Halls".)

What I have to share today falls into the category of bits and pieces. Literally. Some bits and pieces I picked up at Pier 1...and they were reduced. Woohoo!

I love to decorate with pine cones and greenery...and when I ran across these boxes of filler I knew I should buy them for this year.

I use this type of woodsy filler beginning in the fall, and it lasts through the winter in my home.

At the end of the season I just put my filler and such in zip lock bags for next year.

I like to fill vases, hurricanes, bowls, you name it with filler. And for the holidays and winter I love pine cones and berries. (This year I am using them on our Christmas tree too.)

As you can tell by my blue and white bowl...I will be using my blue and white pieces in my Christmas decorating again this year.

I do not know what the greenery is in this box of filler.  If you know what it is please tell us by leaving a comment. Maybe I should know, and probably after you tell me I will go...oh yeah. I knew that. ha.

And one more little bit...some red plaid will be appearing this Christmas too.

I have an odd mix going on this Christmas plaid, pine cones and berries, with jute ribbons and sparkle! I told you it was odd.

Somehow it is all working well so far! I just start decorating... and wait to see where I end up. I surprise myself sometimes!

I have no affiliation with Pier 1. I just wanted to tell you about the vase filler in case you need some woodsy accessories for fall, Thanksgiving, and/or Christmas.

Of course if you have some evergreens in your yard you can gather your own woodsy collection of filler, and enjoy the outdoors. I had huge trees that kept me stocked with the miniature pine cones and medium pine cones when we lived on our farm.

What about you all? Have you started decking your halls?  'Tis the season to be thinking about it even if you have not opened one box of decorations!

Whether you choose a small tree and a wreath or go big with Christmas all over your house...the idea is to love your own home and decorate in ways that make you and your family feel warm and cozy.

We decorate differently now that we live in a smaller house, and empty nest. That's the thing about life, it is constantly changing and we have to adapt and change also. It's not always easy, but I am learning how to live smaller, and cozier.
