Farmhouse or Country French?

Bonjour mes amies!
Good day my friends!

It is Friday...
and I am still in the kitchen tinkering with my table.

I guess you could say that I am just playing house!

As many of you "dish and table" people know...we cannot help it.

We just love our dishes and setting tables/tablescapes. ha!

Today I placed a tablecloth on my farmhouse table...
and, well, I will let the pics do most of the talking now.

I began with a simple arrangement on my table last week sometime.

Then, on another day I decided to mix things up a little.

I know that you are not surprised! ha!

I added a casual cotton tablecloth.
(Since it has fall colors I thought this was the time to put it on the table.)

I put my cute white pumpkins back on the table...And my large white pumpkin cookie jar.

('Tis the season after all. ha!)

To bring in a bit more color to the mix I added some greenery and a green glass bottle.

And, last but not least, I put my crackle candle holders on the table.
I was going for a country/ country French vibe.

My process is to put a few things together,
then stand back and look.

Next I add, or remove things.

My tablescapes are trial and error.

(Purely artistic trial and error in method.ha!)

This tablescape is a simple one for lunch and a casual dinner.

Often we plate our food and just bring it to the table.

I am not for using more dishes than I have to these days. Ha!

When our children were at home, and I cooked most nights, I put veggies, meat, etc. in serving bowls and brought them to the table.

In their latter years at home I remember putting the food on the stove and everyone helping themselves...buffet style. ha!

Looks like over twenty five years or so...I got lazy! ha!

These days hubby and I are pretty casual at meal time.

And for everything there is a time, and season.

I am in the season where I go for easy. Elegant...but easy. ha!

All I did for this tablescape was to bring together some neutral things that I like...and then added some greenery.

As I look at my table with the cloth on it I am reminded of the table in my French family's dining room.

There was always a tablecloth over the table.
And there was always a mix of "things" in the middle.

Flowers. Small ceramic pots of this and that. And some things I have no clue what they were. ha!

A Good Year (Widescreen Edition)

Anything that is country French reminds me of the movie
"A Good Year" with Russell Crowe. Which is one of my favorites by the way!

Whether my table is country, country French, or Farmhouse it works for casual meals here at home in the kitchen.

The idea is to have a pretty and relaxing place to enjoy a meal with family and/or friends.
