Mason Jar Floral Arrangement

Mason Jar floral arrangement

I have been at it again...playing with stems and a new container.

I recently picked up this "decorative" four liter mason jar (for abt six dollars (cheap thrills!) at TJMaxx in Bowling Green, Ky.)

I say "decorative" because I am not really sure that my jar is true canning quality. Those jars are made for hot water baths and temperature changes. My jar is probably just for storage or decorative purposes, which suits me just fine. I don't can. :-)

You all know my formula. I take a container. I take some stems that I have around the house. I insert stems into the container. I sometimes add filler, pebbles, sand, shells, etc. TaDa...I have a new arrangement!

I cannot remember where I purchased these stems a few years ago. They were very long, so I had hubby take several inches off of these. Now that they are shortened I can use them in various containers. I had these stems in a tall piece of pottery prior to this little creation.

Since this jar has plenty of space, I may add some pebbles to the base.

If you have smaller Mason or Ball canning jars you can make an arrangement like this....or make several smaller arrangements. Imagine putting several smaller canning jars in the center of a table...with flowers from your garden. Canning jars are also great for candles since they are heat tolerant.

If I should happen to have some fresh flowers...(hint,hint, hubby) I would put them in my cute mason jar! I have some fancy crystal vases, but I think the large mason jar just has an element of "fun" about it.

All this arrangement cost me was about six dollars. I love it when I can make something cute and stylish for very little expense! You too? Of course you do!
