Happy New Year!
I want to wish each of you a very Happy New Year!

Is 2015 your year to try something new?
Just try it...the clock of your life is ticking away second by second. Carpe Diem, Baby! Seize the moment, the hour, the day, or forever!
My stepping out of my comfort zone would be when I began blogging...about Kentucky and My Life. I had lots of insecurities. Would you all want to follow my adventures? Would you want to see how I decorate my house? Would you care? Is blogging going to pull the curtain on my privacy? I really am a fairly private person.
As a bit of a perfectionist...I worried about creating a polished post. I wanted my blog to be my own little magazine of sorts. Hey, I am not a public relations professional (daughter is.) I am a teacher. Could my academic writing style be morphed into conversational, but correct English? Would I sound stiff? Would you all think I am old and not have anything interesting to say. I am not a spring chicken with kids at home. I offer the perspective of an empty nester...who can kindof do what she wants now!
But, I pick at things. Perfectionism is a disability of sorts. It keeps you off of the field for fear of not being successful. Finally...I tried to relax and just visit you with my posts. I pretended you were on the phone. Or I pretended I was writing a letter to you...with lots of details. In any event...I tried this blogging thing. It is slow going, but I have made some sweet "virtual" friends while at the same time sharing with my old friends. (I mean old friends as in...I have known them for a long time, and not old as in old and wrinkly.) Though we are sprouting some grey hairs and noticing a wrinkle or two here and there.
Step out of your emotional "comfort zone" and work on something that you have been wanting to do. A reader from Kentucky contacted me this week...and she volunteered that she was beginning college at age 51. Her son lives in another KY town...and she was beginning her class on Kentucky History. I replied that I am so proud of her! I cannot think of a better example to inspire you to stretch and reach for that thing you have been wanting to do.
Wishing you all the best for 2015!
