Starting to Think about Christmas Décor

Let me ask you...

Is it too early  to start thinking about Christmas decorating ideas?
I sure hope not, because I am itching to start playing with my Christmas decorations. I have been thinking about my collections and trying to decide the theme direction this year. Natural? Rustic? Sparkles and shine? Silver? Gold? Silver and Gold?  Red and Green? You get the idea. The only thing that I know for sure is that my ideas are always fairly traditional. So, here we go! Let the ideas begin!

The other day I was putting away some things, one of which was a long white platter, when I had an idea. I thought that the platter would made a nice base for a candle centerpiece.

So, here is my first "Creative Holiday Décor" idea...just a little one. You may not have the exact same things that I have used, but I hope that my ideas help you to create your version. Excuse the mess on my table, but I have to put things somewhere when I bring them up from the basement. (I will show you how I am using my silver mirror tray and silver balls later. No...they are not for a disco party. :-))

Here, you can see the plain white platter. It is very traditional with a simple pearl bead edging. Also, It is nice and flat for stable candle placement.

I cut a strip of red ribbon to lay on the platter, just for a touch of red color. I have several rolls of Offray floral ribbon from WalMart in various colors...always useful.

I grabbed a couple of pine cones to place between the candles. These are battery candles...because I was just playing with the placement of things.

I dashed out the front door to cut a few sprigs of boxwood to lay in my arrangement. I am holding off shaping up my boxwood shrubs until closer to Christmas, as I want fresh cuttings for inside of the house. My neighbors are probably wondering why I have let them get get messy. I have a plan. can do this too.

Maybe you have a square platter, or a round platter. Maybe you have a much larger platter. Then you can add more candles. Add a ribbon accent, add some pinecones, and add some greenery. Voila. Simple and pretty décor. This could also be a Thanksgiving arrangement by simply changing the color of the ribbon.

It is so much fun to play house and create pretty ideas for the holidays. There will be more ideas coming soon, but I will keep those a surprise for now.

I hope you like my idea for this simple little candle display, and I hope it is a creative springboard for some of your creations.

I would love to share pics of your creations...just email them to me. I will show them in one of my Christmas posts.

Thanks for visiting today.
