I am always looking for themes for my table designs. I recently created a tabletop design that reflects the aesthetic of the very posh Cosmopolitan Hotel.
After taking a virtual tour of the hotel rooms, restaurants, and entertainment options I knew what I wanted to design...a glitzy table/dining experience! I love to design tablescapes...and there is instant gratification for the design. Rooms designs take much longer to create.
I have collected various serving pieces, plates, flatware, and crystal for years. I knew that I would not need to shop for a thing for this project. (Always a bonus.)
This collage is a collection of hotel pics from the Cosmopolitan website. I chose these as my inspiration. What I take away from these pics is light and dark, sparkle and shine, and bright contrasted with dark. I see twinkling lights and glowing glass. I see an overall Vegas at night look too.
In thinking about this design challenge I also thought of what one might wear to a restaurant, lounge, or entertaining venue at the Cosmopolitan. I dress fairly conservatively, so even if I "dress up" I put on a little black dress...and accessorize with pearls. I like the idea of a little black dress and a glitzy hotel being the inspiration for my table.
With these ideas in mind take a look at what I designed for this challenge. My table works perfectly for this bewitching time of the year also.
Light and dark. Black and white. Shimmer and shine. I used a black paisley Ralph Lauren table runner, along with white linen hemstitch napkins... Also black and white cocktail napkins.
Everything I am using is traditional...but with a posh look due to the sparkle of the trays and wine glasses.
My aluminum serveware pieces are Beatriz Ball. I love the silver look...but in an easy care metal.
I am using pearl white candles. Do you see the pearl edge on the cake plate that I am using to elevate the centerpiece? Even the candlesticks are easy care aluminum.(from Pier One)
Same thing with the ice bucket...easy care.
The wine glasses truly are crystal, and very delicate. I feel "posh" just holding them.
The white plates and platters are another nod to pearls, while the crystal is a nod to diamonds.
Now, go back to the Cosmopolitan collage at the top of the post. Take a close look to see if I came close to recreating the feel. I know that it is not exactly like the hotel...but I hope that the colors, materials, and textures help to evoke that posh feeling of the hotel.
I changed the centerpiece from candles to pumpkins and a flower. They are sitting on a Beatriz Ball pedestal cake plate, which is on the black table runner.
The orange pumpkins are a nod to the bright colors in the Cosmopolitan bar and lounge.
My little witch needs some pearls or diamonds to go with her little black dress!
Thank you to the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Vegas.com for the opportunity to participate in their design challenge. It was fun!
Hope you all had fun visiting my posh tablescape! It's always fun to play house with my dishes.
Maybe I need to have a party since I have set the scene!
Thanks for visiting.
Until the next time,
